Hello, for my blog this week I will be telling you my predictions for the 2021-2022 NFL playoffs.

First of all, the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers were the conference leaders in the AFC and the NFC, so they automatically have a bye to the divisional round of the playoffs. (second round) The way that they decide who they play is determined by the seeds. For example in the AFC, if the Bengals, Bills and Chiefs all won their series, the Bengals would be playing the Titans. This is because they got 4th in the division while the Bills and Chiefs got 2nd and 3rd. Now I will start my predictions.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Winner: Bengals

For me, this one was sort of a no brainer. Even though the Raiders were only one spot behind the Bengals, the Bengals had a better record and in my opinion have a better overall team. They have a couple of young, talented WR’s, a very good young quarterback Joe Burrow, and just an overall solid team.

Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots

Winner: Buffalo Bills

Once again, a no brainer. The Bills are so good all around. They have an elite offense leaded by Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. Yeah, the Pats have a good team too.  They have a good young quarterback, Mac Jones, but he isn’t even close to Josh Allen in overall skill. The Pat’s do have the coaching advantage though. They have Bill Belichick who is a great coach with lots of playoff experience thanks to Tom Brady. But I for sure think that the Bills will win this series and won’t let the Pats upset them and ruin their great season.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Winner: Kansas City Chiefs

This one is the easiest series prediction for me by a long shot. KC had a really slow start to their season, they didn’t look like they used to. But then they started to pick it up and they went 9-1 in the last 10 games of the season. They have such a talented roster and I’m not surprised that they finished second in the conference. Then there’s Pittsburgh. I don’t like them. I don’t think they deserved to be in the playoffs and that the Chargers shouldn’t have taken that timeout, otherwise they would have been in the playoffs right now. So yeah, I think KC will smoke them.

Divisional Round

Tennessee Titans vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Winner: Tennessee Titans

The Titans have been such a juggernaut this year and I think they will carry that force into the playoffs. Although the Bengals are pretty good, the Titans will come out on top. They have one of the best QB, RB, WR trios in the league, if not the best. Ryan Tannehill, AJ Brown and Derrick Henry are so good. Derrick Henry had been injured but he is set to be playing in the playoffs. With him back I think they will plow through the Bengals and make it to the Conference Championship.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills

Winner: Kansas City Chiefs

This one was the second hardest decision. These two teams are both so good this year and in the past few years. They both have top 5 WR’s in the NFL,(in my opinion, I don’t know about everyone else) superstar quarterbacks and just an all around great team. I will 100% be watching this game and I think it will be the most exciting game in the playoffs. Although the Bills are an elite team, I think the Chiefs will be too good for them and the Chiefs will win the series.

Conference Championship

Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs

This one was another hard one. These two teams have been the top of their division for a few years now, I think so but I’m not sure about Tennessee, I know the Chiefs have been. These two teams are stacked with talent all over their roster and I think it a 45% chance for Tennessee and a 55% chance for Kansas City to win this game. Although the Titans are super good and have the number 1 seed, I think Mahomes will have an unreal game to help the Chiefs pull it off and go to the Superbowl.

For my Writers Workshop, I will be telling you about what I think of the seasons, and why summer is the best.

I’ll start with summer. I think summer is the best season of them all.  There are so many things that you can do in the summer that you can’t do in the other three seasons. There are a bunch of sports like soccer, baseball, football and many more that you can’t really do in the other seasons.

I am a person that prefers warmth over cold. I can’t stand being cold and hate it when a bunch of snow goes down the back of my jacket. Warmth is a big part of summer that I really enjoy. Although sometimes, it gets a little bit too hot, but I would much rather take a few days that are super-hot, rather than a bunch of days that are super cold.

One of my most favourite things about summer is that there is no school. As much as I enjoy school, it is a lot better to be able to sleep in for two months. When there is no school, you can hang out with friends all day, go to a grandparent’s house, go swimming, biking and much more fun activities that you can’t do when you’re stuck in a chair for six hours a day five days a week. No matte how much you like school, I think everyone can agree that being home or hanging out with friends and family is way better than sitting in a chair doing work all day.

The only thing I don’t like about summer is that there is no hockey. You can still play road hockey though. It isn’t really even close to as much fun as on the ice, but it is still really fun. That is the only and only thing that I don’t like about summer, but that is just a mild inconvenience that I can handle for a few months.

Now onto winter. I really like and dislike this season if you know what I mean. So, I’m sort of in between about winter.

One thing I really like about winter is that there is hockey. I love hockey and it is 100% my favourite sport, always will be. Like I said earlier ice hockey is so much better than road hockey. So, I really enjoy when it is hockey season once again.

Another is Christmas. Christmas is my favourite holiday not just because of presents. Sure, I like gifts, everybody does. But what I really enjoy, is getting together with family. Some family I only get to see a few times a year. So, it is really fun when all my family gets together, and we have a bunch of laughs.

Snow, I have mixed feelings about the soft, white fluff that can ruin your day. I like snow because you can build forts, throw snowballs, go sledding and a bunch of more things. But I hate it when I get a bunch of snow down the back of my jacket. Or when it’s -40 degrees outside and your parents make you shovel the driveway. Then, on the first shovel load that you go to toss to the side, that one gust of wind decides to push it back where it comes from and hit you in the face. Amazing, just what I wanted!

Like I mentioned earlier, I really dislike the cold. I don’t really understand why people like to be cold. To me, it is probably the most unenjoyable things in winter. I hate it when it snows, then gets a little warmer and then the snow starts to melt. Then, it gets really cold, then “Bang!”, you’re on your back and in pain because congratulations, you just slipped on ice.

So overall, I have to say, I don’t really like winter.

For fall and spring, I won’t say as much about them because to me they aren’t really that major, they’re just transition seasons. I’ll start with fall.

I only like a couple things about fall. One of the things are that hockey is starting. Like I said earlier, hockey is the best, so I really look forward to October for this reason.

Another thing I like, is when the colours of the leaves start to change from green to yellow, orange and red. But when I see those colours then I know it will be winter soon, so I don’t like that part.

Last, and least in my opinion, spring. I really have nothing to say about this season except it is wet, still cold, and not really enjoyable. I don’t like spring.

Well, that is the end. In conclusion, summer is the best and there is no changing my mind.

Hello, for my blog today I will be doing a mini biography on Zach Lavine.

He was born on March 10th, 1995, so that make him 26 years old. He was born in Renton, Washington and that’s where he played high school basketball at Bothell high school. From there he went on to play college basketball at UCLA.

He currently plays for the Chicago Bulls but that isn’t where he started his NBA career. He got drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2014 but then he, a first round pick and Kris Dunn got traded to the Bulls for Jimmy Butler and a first round pick. I think the Bulls won that trade because Lavine has turned into a superstar and Jimmy has been bouncing around the league ever since.

This season he is averaging 25.8 points per game, 5.2 rebounds a game and 4.2 assists per game. Those are really good stats and he is currently 7th in the league for ppg.

He is my second favourite NBA player other than Steph Curry, my third is Jayson Tatum. I like him because he is an all around good player. He has crazy dunks that I wouldn’t even be able to do if I had superpowers or something, he can shoot really well too. He has been in both the dunk contest and 3 point contest. So he has a incredible amount of skill in pretty much every single part of the game. This year he is on a really good team. The Bulls made a bunch of really, really good signing in free agency this past summer. Now this is their starting roster.

They added Demar Derozan who is 4th in ppg this season. They also added Lonzo Ball who is a young point guard that should turn out to be pretty good. They made some other signings too but those were the two big ones.

Hello and for my blog I will be telling you about my basketball shoes and some ones that I like.

Giannis Immortality –  The shoes I have

I highly recommend this shoe. They were a pretty good price at $104. The shoes I have are the black ones in the photo above. I really wanted the gold ones but then I checked the price and they were $230. So I decided the black ones were good and now after I got them i’m really In my opinion I think they look really nice. Some things I really like about the looks are the Nike logo. I like how there is sort of two layers. There is an outer plastic layer and then a sort of spotted part on the inside. I might be wrong but i’m pretty sure that they put the little holes in the logo so the ventilation of the shoe was better. When I first got them they felt really hot. But now I don’t know if after I broke them in a bit or maybe I don’t notice it anymore, but it doesn’t fell as hot as before. It is almost cool more than hot now. Another part I like about the looks are something as simple as the laces and the sides. the laces have grey and black stripes. It’s subtle and I think they look super awesome. With the sides they have a sort of spike design. I also think this looks super cool. Overall I think they are an awesome shoe that are very comfortable, look nice and are good quality.

Some other shoes I want to talk about are the Kyrie Low 4’s

These are a couple of pairs that I was looking at. They were a little more expensive than the Giannis shoes at $145. The Giannis was only $104. I looked at some reviews and videos and they said that they were very good. I think they look really ice and I like the little spike or teeth detail in the front on the bottom pair. I like the shape of them and in the photos they don’t look to bulky. They’re probably a nice light shoe that would be really nice to have.

The final pair is the D.O.N Issue 2

I wasn’t looking ta this exact pair  but I couldn’t find a photo of the ones I wanted. They were black and gold and I think they looked really ice. Once again they don’t look too bulky and I think they would be really nice. I don’t remember their price exactly but I think that pair that I was looking at was $140. So they were pretty expensive.

Hello, for this blog I will be telling you about my jersey collection. Before we begin almost all my jerseys are NHL jerseys except for one NFL jersey. Ill order them from my favourite to least favourite.

1. Alex Ovechkin Black Capitol

This is probably my favourite jersey in my collection. I didn’t actually buy this jersey but my cousins boyfriend gave it to me on Easter about 4 or 5 years back. He said he found it in his closet and never wore it anymore. He knew Ovi was my favourite player so he gave it to me.

2. Quinn Hughes Reverse Retro

I am actually wearing this jersey as I am typing this very sentence. And I can confirm it is very comfortable. I  bought this myself earlier this year for $100 off Icehockeyjerseys.ca. Ill put a link for it later. I think it looks super cool and Quinn Hughes is my second favourite defenseman.

3. Cale Makar Home Jersey

I got this jersey for my birthday this year. I also got this jersey from the same website as the Hughes jersey it was also $100. So I got them both for a really good price. He is my favourite defenseman in the NHL and I think their jersey looks super really cool so that’s why its so high.

4. Alex Ovechkin Home Jersey

Once again this is a jersey from my favourite player in the NHL. This is their home jersey and I also think it looks really cool. It is a nice bright red and it is a nice original jersey. It isn’t too flashy and is just simple and nice.  This will be the last one I’m talking about because otherwise it will take way too long and be over 500 words.

Hello, for my blog this week I will be telling you about the newest NHL game by EA Sports and some facts about it and why I like it.

It was released on October 15th to Xbox Series X, Series S, PS5 and if they have another new console I don’t know what it is. Xbox One and PS4 as well. I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and I got it about two weeks ago.

The cover athlete this year is Auston Matthews. This is his second time on the cover (he was on the cover of NHL 20). I’m not a fan of this and I think they should have picked someone new instead of someone you used two years ago. There were many good options such as Nathan Mackinnon, David Pastrnak, Andrei Vasilevskiy, and many more.

Some things I really like about it are the new Superstar X-Factor’s. These give the best players in the league and new upcoming stars an ability to make them better. If they are having a good game then it activates itself and makes the player better. Another thing I really like is the new graphics and menu screen. This year EA put in a thing called Frostbite. This makes players look way more realistic. with the new face scans this year and the frostbite it makes the game look a lot better. They made the ice  surface and the arenas look a lot more realistic as well. Compared to older NHL games, it makes the game seem more like real life than ever. This is just a little change but I think it looks way better. The menu last year was like a grid with all the game modes and it was sort of boring. But this year there are multiple pages. There is a recommended page, online games, offline and a more page. Now its in lists instead of a grid so in my opinion it looks a little cleaner. But it doesn’t fill the entire screen. This year like I said there is Superstar X-Factors. So on about half the screen it shows some of the best players in the league’s real life game clips and it has a photo of them with the Superstar ability beside them.

Some things I really don’t like are the background, cover athlete and Be a Pro. I like the menu but I don’t like the background colour. It’s white and its so bright. EA uses such a tiny black font so it is super hard to see he names on the screen. Like I said earlier I think it’s sorta stupid to use the same person almost back to back. Sure, he’s a great hockey player but I think someone else deserves to be on the cover. Be a Pro. I do like that they have this game mode but it is almost identical to last year. One of my favourite things in that mode are the cutscenes and conversations. They are the exact same this year and I would have liked it they switched it up to make it more interesting and fun.

Hello and for my blog this week I will be telling you my top three favourite NFL teams.

Before I get into my ranking if you don’t know what the NFL is, it stands for the National Football League. All of its teams are American and its skill level is a bit above the CFL (Canadian Football League). You are eligible for the league three years after you graduate after high school. So if you graduate at 17 you can play when you are 20. Ok, now for the ranking. Number 3 is my third favourite and first is my favourite.

3. Minnesota Vikings

This is my dad’s favourite team so I kinda liked them. I really liked them when they had Stefon Diggs as their number one wide receiver but he left so now they have Justin Jefferson who is really young and I think he will turn out to be a  super good player for them. Plus they have Kirk Cousins a there quarterback. I think he’s really good but some people think otherwise.

2. Baltimore Ravens

Just in the last couple years I started to like them. The only reason I really like them is because of Lamar Jackson. he is such a good young quarterback and he has made that team turn into a playoff team. He is SUPER fast. He can beat defenders and scramble for a bunch of yards before you’re even ready to block the pass or the run. He was on the cover of Madden 21 and I think he deserved it.

1. Kansas City Chiefs

This team in the last few years has been an absolute juggernaut. Ever since they got the best quarterback and player in the league, in my opinion ( Patrick Mahomes) they have been unstoppable. Not to mention that they have superstars like…

QB – Patrick Mahomes

TE – Travis Kelce

WR – Tyreek Hill

and some others like Tyrann Mathieu.

For the past few seasons that I have been following them for they have always had 10 or more wins which is really impressive for that franchise to be that consistent and not have a season off. But this year they aren’t doing as good but I think they will shake off the losses and in the later games this season they will go back to normal and start dominating once again.

Hello and for my blog this week I will be telling you about ESPN Fantasy Hockey and my team.

Last year was the first year that I did a fantasy team and it was fun. Eijah set it up and Me, him, Noah and Elijah’s dad Ernest were in it. I had the second overall pick and I got Leon Draisaitel with that pick. I came in second last because I forgot my password and then I couldn’t change my lines for pretty much the second half of the season. Elijah came in first.

This year I got the second overall pick again and I got Draisaitel again. These are the players on my team.

Overall I think my team is pretty good but I think Elijah will win  because he has Connor McDavid and other really solid players. This year there is a few more people in the league so some of our players on our teams aren’t as good as last year. The people in the league this year are me, Elijah, Ernest, Elijah’s dad Ernest, Elijah’s Papa Peter, and Elijah’s uncle Jirah.

Within the league you can trade players with opposing teams, add or drop players. for example I am considering dropping Lafrenaire and adding Boeser or Ehlers if he is available. The way you win is if your team has the most fantasy points. The way fantasy points works is you can get a certain amount of points for goals, assists, hits, shots, blocks and so on. Each morning I try to change my lines to all the best players that are playing to get the most points I can.

Hello, for my first blog this year I will be telling you my predictions for the upcoming NHL season.

Rocket Richard – Connor McDavid

Some people may have Auston Matthews in front of him this year but I think since they got swept by the Jets in the first round of the playoffs  last year then he will be fired up and get lots of goals to prove he is the best in the league. He has Draisaitel getting him passes and they are really good at finding each other and putting the net in the back of the net.

Vezina – Phillip Grubauer

This may be a hot take but I think the Kraken’s defense is actually really good. He is a really good goalie and was a vezina finalist last year. He has gotten a lot better in the last few years and I think he will really surprise fans with his new team.

Calder Trophy – ?

I dont really know much about this years draft class and all the new rookies so Im not going to make a prediction on this award.

Conn Smythe – Mark Stone

I think Vegas will make it to the finals this year. Mark Stone is a really good player and consistently puts up points he is a solid all around player and a good leader for that team.

Stanley Cup – Vegas Golden Knights

They are a really good team. Last year I was so surprised when one of my favourite teams (Montreal Canadians) knocked them out. Even with the loss of their all star goalie Marc-Andre Fleury they still have Robin Lehner who is also a super good goalie. They have a well rounded team with many elite players. I really like Colorado’s chances also but they always seem to get knocked out early.

Hart Memorial and Art Ross – Connor McDavid

He is such a great player it would be hard not to pick him for this award. He gets so many points and really helps the Edmonton. He is super fast and has really good hands and can break defenders ankles with very low effort.

Norris Trophy – Cale Makar

He is a really good, young defenseman for the Colorado Avalanche. In both the playoffs and regular season this past year he averaged a point per game which is really good for a young defenseman. He is my favourite defenseman in the league right now and I think he will only get better.

Hello, for this blog I will be telling you about myself and some stuff this year.

Hello, my name is Jayden and I am a grade 7 student. I really like playing hockey and a bunch of other sports, juggling, seeing friends and family and some other stuff.

A challenge I have faced this year is not being able to see people for long stints of time. Due to COVID you couldn’t really see anybody and that really sucked for me. I couldn’t see my family or friends and play basketball, trampoline, hockey etc. We had to go into remote learning and I had a  harder time focusing and getting help from teachers or friends.

In next year I think the hardest thing will be adapting to the new work. When were doing work in grade 7 I occasionally look up and see what work they are doing and I am very confused. I think I will be able to do it but I think it will be a lot harder.

I have learned a bunch of stuff this year and I cant really think of anything specifically. I have learned a bunch of new kinds of math, writing, science and social studies. As a person I think I have learned that you should appreciate the time you have with family and friends. Like I said before due to COVID I couldn’t see anyone for a long time. It really sucked and I wished I could see them. Now I am really happy that you can see some more people and have fun again.

Some more random thing about me are my favourite hockey player is Alex Ovechkin, my dream car is a dodge challenger, and my favourite joke is” What do you call a cow with a twitch. Beef Jerky.” I think that is pretty much it and I hope you enjoyed.
